Hi everyone, my name is Teria with Peace and Make, and today I’m going to do a baby blanket fabric haul. So, what’s been going on is I know a lot of people who are having summer babies, and my husband suggested, “Why don’t you make a baby blanket for so-and-so?” I thought, “That’s a great idea!” What started as one blanket quickly turned into a total of three baby blankets and two blankets for my son—five blankets in total that I plan to make over the next month to month and a half. So, we’ll see how much I get done! But before I finish everything (I’ve already started one), I wanted to show you the rest of the blankets I’m working on.
I got all of these fabrics from Joann Fabrics. They were at a really good price, and I have the receipt right here. Most of them were around $2.99 per yard, and the most expensive was $8.99 per yard, so they were all under $10, and most of them were under $6 per yard. So yeah, let me show you the fabrics!
Here’s the first one. The plan is to pair this fabric with a coordinating green fabric. I’ll lay it out, stitch it, and then quilt it diagonally to make a diamond pattern. I guess this is the summer of quilting for me because I want to quilt everything right now! This first one is for a little girl.
The next one is for a baby boy. Look at this cute camping fabric with little bears—it’s so adorable! I’m pairing it with this blue fabric. This one was the more expensive one at $8.99 per yard, but it’s really nice. (Oops—hope you can see that clearly when I hold it up to the camera.) There are fire trucks on this fabric, and it’s perfect for a baby boy. My son actually picked out these two fabrics for me!
Next, I’m going to make my son another blanket. I’ll probably just fold this fabric over—this will be a smaller, travel-friendly blanket for him. The other one will stay at home, but this one will be easy for him to take with him. I didn’t get a coordinating flannel for this one because the fabric is thick enough on its own. Plus, it has this really fun car print, so I think it’ll be great as a quick quilt or blanket.
The last fabric I’ll show you is a sneak peek of what most of these blankets will look like. I’ve already started quilting this one. The fabric is so cute, with turtles, raccoons, and moons—perfect for sleep time and snuggles. I really love this pop of color. This coordinating fabric is my favorite combination because I love pairing uncommon colors. There’s no orange or peach in the print, but I love how the yellow and peach work together. Plus, the green and peach are a great match too.
I’m planning to quilt the rest of the fabrics, and then I’ll bind the edges. For this particular one, I’m using a lighter peach fabric with little yellow dots for the binding. I watched a YouTube tutorial on how to do this, and I’ll link the video below if you’re interested.
So that’s everything I have planned! Hopefully, this gives you some ideas if you’re making baby blankets for any loved ones, or if you’re currently pregnant or have a newborn. Honestly, if you buy about a yard and a half—or even two yards—you can make these for adults too! They have adult-friendly prints at Joann Fabrics, and you can make things like Christmas presents. There are so many options, but most of these will be baby blankets, plus a few for my son.
Oh, and I almost forgot! One more fabric. I have a secret obsession with fat quarters, and I picked up this bundle of fat quarters for about $7. It comes with all these bright fabrics, and I plan to use them for some kids’ projects. I’ve noticed that little girls especially love bright colors, so I’ll be making some fun things with these!
That’s everything I have for now! Hopefully, you enjoyed this video. Don’t forget to like and subscribe, and comment below with your favorite fabric print. Personally, I think this one with the yellow and peach is my favorite combination, but I also really love the fire truck print—I’m a little biased, since my son picked it out! What’s your favorite? Let me know in the comments, and I’ll see you in the next video. Bye!
