Hi everyone! My name is Teria with Peace and Make, and today we’re going to have a sewing chat and I’ll give you some updates on what I’ve been working on. So let’s get started!

If you’ve guessed it already, one of the main topics of today’s video is blankets. Baby blankets, kid blankets—blankets, blankets, blankets! I’ve been on a blanket roll lately. I thought I’d be done with all my blankets by now, but with other responsibilities outside of sewing, I’m still working on them. At the moment, I’ve finished two blankets—I’ll pop up pictures of them here. I’ve been posting a lot of blanket videos because, honestly, that’s been my life this summer.

I thought I could get through the five blankets I planned to make quickly, but realistically, I wasn’t able to finish them in a month and a half. It’s probably been closer to two or two and a half months now, and I’m still not done. But that’s okay! I’ll show you the most recent blanket I’m working on. Here it is! I’m adding the binding around it now, and I love the pattern—so cute!

Once I finish this one, I still have another blanket to work on. I had three baby blankets to make, and all the babies have been born—yay! Welcome to the world, little ones! It’s such a beautiful time, and I’m so happy to be making these blankets for the new babies. But honestly, I’m ready to be done with blankets and get back to making clothes. I really miss sewing clothes!

That being said, making blankets has been a nice break. Making straight lines over and over again is way easier on the brain than making a dress or pants. The level of focus needed to sew clothes is much higher, so it’s been refreshing to take a step back. But now, I’m definitely ready to jump back into garment sewing!

Who’s with me? Are you ready for some clothing projects? I’ve realized, though, that I also enjoy making craft items, so I’m going to make some room in my sewing schedule for that as well.

So that’s the blanket update!

Next, as many of you know, it’s back-to-school season! One of the non-clothing projects I worked on recently was a curtain for my sister-in-law’s classroom. It was such a fun project! I’ll share some pictures of it, though I don’t have the final shots in her classroom just yet. If I get those later, I’ll share them.

The curtain was pretty simple—basically just a smaller version of the technique I use to make pillows. I added some buttonholes so it could hang on hooks and be easily transported between classrooms. It’s also washable, which is always a win in a classroom setting! I was a bit unsure at first whether I could pull it off, but I’m glad I followed through.

I’m planning to make a video showing how to make that curtain, so keep an eye out for that. Full disclosure: it takes me a while to edit and film these videos. By the time you see the tutorial, it’ll probably be a little after the fact because filming and editing takes time. If I had a whole team to help me, it would be a lot faster! I always joke with my sewing friends that we need assistants. We need people to help us cut patterns and trace fabric! Anyone else agree?

But, yes—look out for that curtain-making video soon. I’ll be mixing in both craft projects and garment projects, because I’ve made so many clothes at this point, I’m branching out into other fun projects too!

Speaking of garment sewing, I’ve decided to shift gears a little. I showed you in the last sewing chat that I’ve been working on a pair of jeans. That project will take a while because I’m adjusting a pattern to make flare pants. I’m not drafting the pattern from scratch, but making these adjustments still takes time. So in the meantime, I want to do a quick project—one that’s easy and has a pattern ready to go. And that’s jeggings!

I want to make some jean leggings using this amazing fabric. It took me a while to find the perfect denim-knit fabric—each store listed it differently, so I had to go through a lot of options. But I’m happy with my choice, and I’m excited to get started. This fabric is stretchy, which I need right now because my body keeps fluctuating. It’ll also be perfect for those times of the month when my regular jeans just don’t fit comfortably.

I got the fabric from KnitFabric.com, and I’m really pleased with the quality. I think jeggings will be a great addition to my wardrobe, especially for days when I need something comfy and stretchy.

Now for something exciting—I won a prize on Instagram! One of the best things about Instagram is the giveaways. Businesses love to promote their products, so there are tons of opportunities to win cool things. I don’t enter as often as I used to, but when I saw this giveaway, I just had to try.

I won a beautiful dress from Lady by Ash on Instagram. If you haven’t checked out her page, you should—it’s full of flowy, beachy vibes, with clothes that look perfect for a serene day by the water. I was thrilled to win, and I’ll share a full video showing the dress once it arrives.

I’ve also won other giveaways in the past, like a bag-making kit and a gift certificate from Measure Fabrics. It’s been a while since I’ve won anything, so I was super excited about this latest win.

Let me know if you’ve won anything cool on Instagram! I’d love to hear about it.

Next, sewing-related but not actual sewing—I’m excited because I’ve posted all three parts of my first baby blanket video series! If you’ve ever wanted to make a blanket, check out the series for some tips and inspiration.

For a long time, I wanted to create a series of sewing videos—part one, part two, part three—but I’d always get distracted and never finish. This time, I was able to make the whole series and get it posted. I’m really proud of that!

If you haven’t seen the videos yet, go back and watch them! I’ll link them below, and make sure to like them too, as it helps get my videos into the algorithm so more people can enjoy them.

With the holidays coming up, making blankets could be a great gift idea. Even if it’s not a baby blanket, a cozy blanket is perfect for kids, adults, or anyone in need of something warm for the winter months. So if you’re looking for a fun project, making a blanket is a great option!

I’m even thinking about making a blanket for myself soon. I saw some fabrics at Joann’s that I liked, but I didn’t buy them right away because I wanted to think it over. I’ve realized that I’m much pickier when choosing fabrics for myself, but I’ll definitely go back and get something when I’m ready.

Anyway, be sure to check out the blanket video series if you haven’t yet. And if you’re thinking about making blankets for yourself or as gifts, now’s a great time to start!

Now, I need your help with a question! I have all these fabric scraps left over from the two blankets I made. There’s enough to make something, but I’m not sure what to do with it. Should I make a pouch, a scarf, or something else? I’m totally stumped! What would you do with these scraps? Let me know your ideas in the comments.

Before we wrap up, I have one last question for you: What are you working on right now? Do you have any sewing plans for the rest of the month? Or are you taking a break from sewing with back-to-school and everything going on? Let me know what’s on your sewing agenda!

And before I go, I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of you. I just hit 202 subscribers on this channel, and I couldn’t be more excited! I celebrated with my friends when I saw that number, and I just want to say thank you for all your support. If you enjoy the videos, please like, subscribe, and share the channel with others who love sewing. I’d really appreciate it!

Also, be sure to follow me on Instagram at @peaceandmake for more updates and behind-the-scenes content.

Thanks for joining me for today’s sewing chat! I’ll see you all in the next video. Until then, happy sewing, and take care! Bye!
